CORTINA BOOKSHOP
Libreria Cortina Milano has been active since 1946, when Aldo Cortina, a young man from Belluno with a passion for painting and the disciple of the artist Filippo De Pisis, opened the first seat in via Festa del Perdono, in front of the Ca’ Granda, at that time the Ospedale Maggiore in Milan. The proximity to the hospital immediately characterized the medical focus of the library which sold books and lecture notes to future doctors.
Over the years, it has established itself as one of the most important scientific bookstores in Italy and today two other stores are open in Milan: one in Città Studi, in via Pascoli, and another near the Bicocca University, in front of the Arcimboldi Theater.
The library is a reference point for professionals, teachers and students, with over 100.000 titles available: besides the scientific publications (medicine, psychology, law, human sciences and other technical-scientific disciplines), it offers a vast production of Italian literature and non-fiction, children’s books and texts dedicated to free time and entertainment, at a discounted price.
Raffaello Cortina Editore
Founded in 1981, Raffaello Cortina Editore has established itself on the market by publishing books related to psychological themes. It’s shown by the series “Psicologia clinica e psicoterapia”, that includes, besides classics of the psychoanalytic thought such as Anna Freud, Jung, Bowlby, Winnicot, Balint, Kernberg, Fornari, publications open to other topics, among which cognitive-behavioral psychology (Liotti, Linehan, Semerari) and systemic psychoterapy (Selvini Palazzoli, Walsh).
In the Nineties, the publishing house, from the specific fields of psychology and psychiatry, has expanded its spectrum of interests towards the human sciences, with particular emphasis on philosophy and epistemology, and on scientific dissemination.
Over the years, the production has also turned to psychodiagnostic and neuroscience texts: since 2013 it has been the publisher of the dsm-5 and related volumes (manuals, rating scales and test) and in 2018 was published the second edition of the Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual pdm-2.
